Backpacking Trip

My class and i hiked 5 1/2  miles to a camping spot that was amazing.  We camped where Bond Creek meet Redwood Creek.  The weather was just such a special treat.  It was sunny each day.  It was awesome.

On the hike up my friend Zoë and I were sharing riddles.  Here's one for you, Zoë made this up, Bell rings rope breaks, guy dies.    Try and figure that one 0ut.  Anyway, that made time fly by.  At the begging there were no hills, it was just flat.  But after we crossed the first river the ground was  at different levels.  There was one hill that was really short but was pretty steep, it was fun to go down to the other side though.

When the group I was in got to the camp, there were some people who had fallen behind and wanted to walk slower, we all looked at the river and put our bathing-suits on and walked over to the side of the river.  It was so pretty that I didn't even wait to test the water I  just jumped in.  As you can guess it was surprisingly cold.  I just kept moving and it got warmer, well not warm but definitely not as cold.  It was really funny to watch people jump in and running out freezing.  We went swimming for about 20 minutes and then we all got out and started to get dry.

Then it was time to set the tents up.  I was sharing a tent with Zoë and we both know how to set a tent up so we got it up right away and we put all our stuff in it so it was ready.  We had been there about 40 minutes and the people that had fallen behind came into view.  We all ran over to congratulate them.

That night we, Nick and I, made a campfire.  It was a really good one.  We all sat around it and ate hot-dogs and for buns we used slugs, the bagels not real slugs.  John ate about 8 hot-dogs, it was gross.  Then after we had our hot-dogs, we went to marsh-mellows. Lily has  the marsh-mellow gift, she can make a perfect marsh-mellow.

We played chubby bunny I got four, Collin got four, Ashley got five, Zoë got four and Nick got six and it was really funny.

Soon Mr.Vack asked if we wanted to go on a night hike.  Only a few of us wanted to go.  So we started walking and Finn thought he saw a fox and then he thought he saw a dead fox but each of them were actually logs.

We started to walk back, but when we were not very far from the campsite Mr. Vack pulled out a light and it turned out to be a light up Frisbee.  So we played for a while.  Then we walked past the campsite to the other side of it and played a little more Frisbee except that Maya got her little green one and we played a double Frisbee.

That night it  was really pretty and Nick, Galen, and Skyler slept outside.  Zoë and were going to but it got too cold.  We could see the stars from the tent anyway.

The next morning we had slugs   for breakfast, we had a few choices of toppings.

Before breakfast Meaghan and I had decided to go swimming   in the river, but after breakfast Meaghan wasn't feeling that good, so... I finally decided to go by myself.

I walked up to the river in my bathing suite, the wind throwing my hair in my face so I got even more of a chill than before.  Ashley and Emily were taking videos with their phones.  I stared at the river, losing my courage.  I looked at Ashley then Emily, each one saying, " Hurry my time is almost up!!"

I looked at them one last time, then, 1......., 2......., 3!!!  I started to run to the river and JUMP!!!! I did a dive into the water.  The water hit me like a fistful of sand being thrown in my face.  Like ice water being dumped over my head.  I felt a wave of relief wash over my body.  I felt below me in the water, nothing, I went down farther, I again felt below  me, sand.  I pushed up  beginning to loosing my breath.  My head broke through the surface causing rings on the choppy surface.  My feet hit the pebbly sand on the bottom.  I turned around and looked at the river taking in everything.  The way the water flowed, the speed.  The shape of the rock, the way it broke the water and made it go in separate directions.  The pebbly ground.

Memorizing it for the next time I came, so I could always have those pictures in my head.  I would be ready for next year.
