Response to "I know why the caged bird sings"

I know why the Cage Bird Sings

This poem is called “I know why the Cage Bird Sings” By Maya Angelou.

This poem seems to be about slavery and it progress throughout the years and the title seems to sum up the whole poem. “I know why the Cage Bird Sings” kinda like means, like a slave that is captured, but still has a voice and can speak for their people. This poem doesn't really come from the perspective of a person. It’s kind of more like a narrative.

This poem has elements like, it has a little bit of rhyme but really not much for example “The Free bird thinks of another breeze and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees”. It also has a lot of metaphors for example “But the caged bird stands on the grave of dreams” there are quite a few metaphors but here is another one. “The caged bird leaps on the back of the wind” The metaphors are very wisely used.

There are a few things i like about this poem and those things are, that it makes sense, like it all fits very well together. As the caged bird does more things it still comes together somehow.
